How to Install macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox on Windows
To install macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox on Windows you need some required files. You are going to download and install the files and software therefore without these you can’t progress in installation. I will provide the download link and show you how to use them.
macOS High Sierra Requirements
- VirtualBox: The first thing you is to download VirtualBox. It is the virtual machine where your macOS High Sierra will be installed. It is also the best option besides it’s free of cost. There will be additional files you need to install for this machine. Moreover, go the site and download it for free and I will show you how to install it later.
- Download macOS High Sierra Image (VMDK File): The next you need is macOS High Sierra Image. It’s basically VMDK file will be the setup of your High Sierra which will be installed on VirtualBox. The VMDK file is large in size of almost 6 GB, therefore, you can download it in one part. There will be also a 6 of 6 parts and the macOS High Sierra Image is safe and secure in Google Drive. You can download it without any fear of virus or anything else.
- WinRar: The downloaded files will come in Zipped folder, therefore, you need unlocker to unzip them. There are other unzippers however the best one is WinRar which can be useful for another zipped folder. The link provides all you need to do is download and install it on your windows. Install VirtualBox on Windows 10
If you have VirtualBox on your Windows then skip to the next step. However, if you are new this machine then let’s install VirtualBox on Windows. While downloading make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of it.
Run the downloaded setup of VirtualBox. Further on Welcome window press Next and then install it like you’d install any other software.
Configure a New Virtual Machine
Now that you have VirtualBox on you Windows, therefore, you need to configure a new virtual machine. This the virtual machine where you will install macOS High Sierra on Windows.
In addition, I will show you to create a new virtual machine with a simple method which you can use for any VirtualBox. First of all, launch the VirtualBox and when the window starts up. Then on the left top, you can see an option New, therefore, click on it and follow these.
Once your virtual wizard windows open up on the bottom of that you can see Expert Mode. Therefore click on it and with this method it can be done within a couple of minutes. You don’t need to go to the process one by one which can hard sometimes.
Create a Virtual Machine
Step 1. The first option will be of Name and Operating System and you need to fill it like this.
- Name: In the option, you can write the name of your virtual machine. For instance, macOS High Sierra. Once you write the name then sometimes it detects the other two option.
- Type: The type you are going to select is Mac OS X.
- Version: The final option will be of the version you are installing, therefore, click on it and select macOS 10.13 High Sierra (64-Bit).
Step 2. After that, you can see Memory Size and you need to increase that. The higher you can increase the better it is for your performance of macOS High Sierra. For instance, If you have 16 GB RAM then move the pointer to at least 8084. Otherwise, it depends on your RAM and you need to adjust it based on RAM.
Step 3. Below that is Hard Disk and you need to select the third option Use an existing virtual hard disk file. After that, click on the folder icon and browse for the macOS High Sierra virtual image and insert it. You need to have at least 20 GB of free space for installation. Now press on Create once everything is ready.
In this step close the VirtualBox by clicking on the X sign on the right top of VirtualBox.
Apply Commands to VirtualBox
Once you’ve closed VirtualBox then now you are going to apply commands to VirtualBox. Therefore copy the codes below and open it in notepad. Moreover, once the codes open up in notepad then replace every “OS X Name” to “macOS High Sierra”. Further, you are going to add these codes to VirtualBox.

Afterward, click on the start menu and search for CMD. Therefore open up Command Prompt with the administrator and copy the first line of codes and enter into it. After that copy the remaining codes one by one each line and paste in command prompt. Make sure to do each line separately because if you put all of them together in CMD then it’ll not work.
Install macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox
Since you’ve done everything right therefore now is the time where you start installing macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox. If you’ve checked our other articles, therefore, this step is pretty similar to them. Launch VirtualBox, select macOS High Sierra and on the top click on Start. Wait for a couple of seconds and then the installation window will appear.
Step 1. On the first page of the welcome screen select your Country and Continue.
Step 2. Next up select Select Your Keyboard and then Continue.
Step 3. Read the Data and Privacy and then Continue.
Step 4. After that, Transfer Information to This Mac comes, therefore select the third option of Don’t Transfer Any Information Now and click on Continue.
Step 5. Now click on Set Up Later and Skip to ignore the email.
Step 6. In this step, you will see Apple ID Security window. Therefore you can enable two-factor authentication and then Continue.
Step 7. Agree to Terms and Conditions.
Step 8. Now fill up the blanks and then you will Create a Computer Account.
Step 9. You can customize your system on Express Set Up and Continue.
